The Chinquapin One is Meikle Tòir’s bold, sweet‑smoke expression, built from spirit peated to 35 PPM and matured first in American oak ex‑bourbon barrels before a second stage in Chinquapin virgin oak from Missouri’s Northern Ozarks. Expect smouldering oak embers, burnt liquorice, honey, ginger, and orange peel on the nose, with a rich palate of cocoa, crème brûlée, toasted almonds, cinnamon, aniseed, and campfire smoke. Bottled at 48%, naturally coloured and non‑chill filtered, it’s a textured, modern Speyside peat whisky with a distinctive sweet‑spice profile shaped by its rare Chinquapin oak finish.

Meikle Tòir is the peated whisky brand from The GlenAllachie Distillery, created under Master Distiller Billy Walker as part of a long‑term “big pursuit” to craft a premium mainland‑peated Speyside malt. Production began in 2018, with only around 100,000 litres of peated spirit made each year ...a rarity for Speyside. 
The team uses mainland peat from St Fergus for a sweeter, oaky smoke style, and employs an unusually long 160‑hour fermentation to build thick, fruity, ester‑rich spirit. Each release is matured in carefully selected casks and bottled with natural colour and no chill‑filtration.
