Tasting Room

Welcome to our little corner of curiosity. This is where we post the tastings, workshops, and events that make life taste better. We won’t pretend there’s always something happening ...because there isn’t.
But when there is, it’s worth dropping everything for. Consider this your official invitation to keep checking back.

Thomson's Whisky Tasting @ Neat!

Friday June 5th, 4-8pm @Neat

We’re polishing up the tasting glasses for a night with one of Aotearoa’s pioneering  whisky makers. @thomsonwhisky  And to make it even better, we’ve got the legendary Joey Durana joining us in person.

Joey’s rolling in with a lineup of delicious drams from the Thomson stable. The classics you may know, the curiosities you’ve heard whispers about, and the “oh wow, what is that?” bottlings that remind you why Kiwi whisky is having a moment.

For the whisky nerds (and the whisky‑curious), Joey will also be hosting a mini‑flight experience: a deeper dive into Thomson’s latest and greatest creations, plus the full story behind the distillery, the grain, the smoke, the craft, and the chaos that makes their whisky so unmistakably theirs.

And because we love a little extra sparkle, the team at Neat has created a one‑night‑only Thomson cocktail to kick things off.

No bookings needed for this one. Come down. Say hello. Meet the humans behind this awesome Kiwi distillery. Taste something new. Maybe even discover your next favourite dram.

Good whisky, good yarns, good people. What more do you need on Friday Night?

Bruichladdich: Black Arts & Other Truths

Thursday, 11th June, from 6pm

Founded in 1881 on the shores of Loch Indaal, Bruichladdich has always been a bit of a rebel on Islay. After nearly disappearing in the 1990s, the distillery was revived in 2001 with a mission that still defines it today: barley provenance, transparency, and genuine connection to place.
They champion Islay-grown barley and long-term partnerships with local farmers. Heritage grains like Bere barley. Slow distillation, the hard way, on original Victorian equipment. Full traceability from field to bottle. Experimental peat, and boundary-pushing creativity. Bruichladdich doesn’t just make whisky; they interrogate, celebrate, and reinvent it.

Just a few of the reasons we're excited to have Oscar Lods, Brand Ambassador for Bruichladdich, joining us for a deep dive into one of Scotland’s most progressive and thought‑provoking distilleries. This tasting brings together those heritage grains, island-grown barley, elegant unpeated spirit, muscular yet elegant smoke, and the mysterious artistry of Black Art.
A full arc of what makes Bruichladdich such a force on Islay today.

On the table:

  • Bruichladdich Bere Barley 2013
  • Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2014
  • Bruichladdich 18yo
  • Bruichladdich Port Charlotte SYC 2013
  • Bruichladdich Port Charlotte 18yo
  • Bruichladdich Black Art 10.1

It’s a lineup that traces where they began, where they stand, and where they’re heading. A rare chance to taste the philosophy of the distillery in motion.
All this, and some nibbles from the Reggies Kitchen, it's shaping up to be an awesome evening! Seats are $89pp.
Book now! Don't miss out!
