Neat is a specialty liquor store and tasting room founded by Alexander Hudson.
A culmination of knowledge, experience and time - and a desire to share it. Neat provides a destination for gourmands, vinophiles, barflies and the completely clueless. We love to share our knowledge and sentiment for quality liquor. The best drinks are served with a story, an insight into the craft or an appreciation for the ritual. Think conversion therapy for bingeing bad booze.
You can come for a drink, buy a bottle, have a chat. Neat merges hospitality with retail to enrich your experience with us and at home.
We offer an array of the finest, from the super rare to those that are cult favourites for good reason. All of which provide a special sense of fulfilment in consumption or collection.
A neat guy
Alexander Hudson founded Wonder Horse Bar in 2012 and has been deeply passionate about rejuvenating the Hamilton hospitality scene ever since. Perennially travelling the globe for competition and travel in order to enrich his knowledge and bring world class experiences to our region.
Alex has been the recipient of the Best Bartender Award at the 2019 and 2020 Waikato Food Inc Awards, placed 3rd in the Cardrona Global Cocktail Competition, was on the judging panel of the Drammy's (NZ's national whisky awards) among involvement in many other gigs in the industry.
As such, Neat is a unique genesis of ideas; a library of liquor to accomodate his own encyclopedia of knowledge, 20 years on. Maintaining connections with punters, served in a new context where knowledge and appreciation for the bottle is shared.
