Geurin VSOP Cognac 700mL
Warm, welcoming, and beautifully rounded. Guerin’s VSOP is all ripe fruit, honeyed spice, and gentle vanilla with a clean, easy finish. Expect notes of dried fruit, hazelnut, cedar, and a touch of cocoa, wrapped in a soft tannic structure that keeps everything poised rather than heavy. The palate is fleshy and smooth, with hints of coconut, cinnamon, and vetiver drifting through before a long, subtly spiced finish. It’s a superb “sit‑back” Cognac: elegant enough for aficionados, friendly enough for newcomers, and absolutely spot‑on as a neat pour after dinner or paired with dark chocolate
Guerin is a long‑standing family producer based in the Bons Bois cru, with roots stretching back to the 1930s and a reputation built on grape‑growing first and distillation second. Their vineyards span a strip of ocean‑kissed terroir running from the coast inland, mixing champagne, clay‑limestone, and siliceous soils. A patchwork that gives their eaux‑de‑vie a round, approachable character. Today the estate is helmed by Philippe Guérin with his brother Julien as Maître de Chai, drawing on deep stocks and careful barrel management to craft Cognacs that are balanced, fruit‑forward, and never overly oaked. It’s a house that values clarity, freshness, and honest regional expression over flash. Quietly consistent, quietly confident.
