Named after the dramatic Bholsa caves near the distillery, Ardnahoe Bholsa is a whisky that captures the essence of Islay’s wild landscape.
Bottled at 50% ABV with no chill‑filtration or added colour, it opens with aromas of red fruits, walnuts, orange zest, and a wisp of peat smoke.
The palate is layered with raisins, dates, ripe plums, and hints of chocolate, all underpinned by Ardnahoe’s signature earthy peat. A long, peppery finish rounds out this sherried yet smoky dram, making Bholsa a perfect showcase of Ardnahoe’s “peat‑sweet” style. Robust, complex, and deeply satisfying.

Located on the rugged northeast coast of Islay between Caol Ila and Bunnahabhain, Ardnahoe Distillery was the first new distillery to open on the island in 15 years. Drawing water from nearby Loch Ardnahoe, its name translates from Gaelic as “height of the hollow.” Backed by a £12 million investment from the family‑owned Hunter Laing & Co., Ardnahoe was designed to honor Islay’s heritage while introducing fresh perspectives. It is notable for using traditional worm tub condensers (rare on Islay)  which give its spirit a robust, complex character. With a capacity of up to one million liters per year, Ardnahoe produces peated, lightly peated, and unpeated styles, mostly matured in ex‑bourbon and sherry casks. The distillery also boasts one of the most scenic stillhouses in Scotland, overlooking the Sound of Islay and the Paps of Jura. Ardnahoe released its first whisky in 2024, marking the beginning of its journey as a new player in Islay’s legendary whisky landscape.
