Chateau Haut-Mayne Graves Rouge 2020
A classic, quietly confident Graves red that delivers far more than its humble price suggests. The 2020 vintage opens with dark berry fruit, gentle spice, and a touch of earthy, graphite‑like minerality. Hallmarks of the region’s gravel and limestone soils. On the palate it’s medium‑bodied, fresh, and beautifully balanced, with supple tannins and a long, lightly herbaceous finish that keeps things elegant rather than heavy. Think cassis, cherry, toasted cedar, and a whisper of crushed stone.
A stylish, terroir‑driven Bordeaux that’s both approachable now and structured enough to reward a little patience
Château Haut‑Mayne is a small, family‑owned estate in Preignac, in the northern Sauternes zone, known for meticulous hand‑harvesting, traditional basket‑pressing, and richly expressive wines shaped by clay‑limestone soils and generations of Roumazeilles family stewardship. The property dates back to the Comte de Chalup and has been in the Roumazeilles family since 1929, with 10–14 hectares of vines producing wines noted for exotic fruit, citrus, and balanced richness.
